Castle Elementary PTO Meeting

December 3, 2009

President Bonnie Ciuffetelli called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM. Notes from the November Breakfast with Brad were on the tables. Our January PTO meeting will be on the 5th at 6 PM in Room 141. Mr. Flener will give a demonstration of the document cameras that we are considering purchasing for each classroom. Volunteers of the month were Jennifer Miller and Mrs. Scales.

Principal's report:
Mrs. Scales said the third grade is taking the INVIEW test. 22 food baskets were made at Thanksgiving for families in need. Thanks to Mrs. Blemker's son for making the Stomp program available to our school. She explained how assistance is given to families in need at Christmas time. 349 students received the nasal spray for the H1N1. The health department will return in January for the 2nd dose. The angel tree is in the hallway. We will share our donations with Sharon and Chandler. The next AR party will be January 8. The theme is Barnyard Blast.

Minutes:
The minutes were emailed and passed out by Carol Mesker. Debra Buck moved to accept the minutes as presented; Dawn Bratton seconded; motion approved.

Treasurer's report:
Dawn Bratton provided a financial statement (attached). Kathi Wilson moved to approve the report; Shawn Mundy seconded; motion approved. Dawn also reported that a new policy regarding checks written to the PTO will be in place. Details will be in the upcoming newsletter.

VP of Funded programs-
Kathi Wilson did not have a report.

VP of School Activities-
Michele Brookman did not have a report.

VP of Special Events-
Deb Titzer did not have a report.

Committee Reports:

5th Grade Events- will be held on May 21. 9:00 awards ceremony, 11:00-12:00 lunch (pizza), 12:00- 2:30 fun time! Plans are moving along.

Birthday Book Club- No report.

Book Fair- No report.

Community Donations- Amy is working on things for the carnival.

Community Service- Mitten tree is out front in the lobby.

Directory- The directory is complete.

Family Carnival- Carnival is April 16. Committee is coming together. We are still looking for someone to head up the kitchen, games, help with donations, set up and clean up crew. There will be a carnival meeting in January.

Field Day- May 24th for 1st through 4th grades. Kindergarten will be that day as well.

Fund Raising-We received $140 from Applebee's eat out night. The next one will be December 15 at Jalisco. It will be all day for carry out, eat in and bar included.

Helping Hands- No report.

Hospitality- No report.

Landscape- Tara will have a work day right before Carnival. Courtyard looks good right now. Looks like work was recently done.

Library-Everything is running well.

Market Day-Pick up is this Thursday the 3rd. Volunteers are needed for pick up.

Popcorn-$293 made in November includes money from Twizzler sale on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. May do something similar before Christmas. No popcorn sales during Student Council sucker sale.

Publications-Newsletter should be ready on Thursday to copy and distribute.

Special Rewards-The winter box top contest will be the first 2 weeks in February. Sheets will be sent home during Christmas break.

Spirit Store-Running smoothly. Seasonal items on sale now.

Spirit Wear- Holiday orders have been turned in and merchandise will be available before Christmas break.

Student Incentives/AR parties-Volunteers have been contacted for the January AR party.

Sunshine- Amanda has been busy. We have received many thank you notes.

Web Site- Tonia Eissler has updated.
