President Bonnie Ciuffetelli called the meeting to order at 6:05
P.M. Notes from the December Breakfast with Brad were available
(see attached paper). Mr. Flener presented a demonstration of the
document cameras the PTO is considering purchasing for the teachers.
Document cameras will take the place of overhead projectors which
were purchased when the building was remodeled in 1994. They are
much smaller and can be placed anywhere in the classroom. It shows
images in 3D and color. You can use it to show worksheets, overhead
papers, photos, money, and pages from books, etc. The cost will
be approximately $500 each.
Principals report:
Mrs. Scales said Friday will be the AR party. She also announced
the Book Swap/ Young Authors night will be March 2. She asked the
PTO to provide refreshments. The hospitality committee will take
care of this. ISTEP writing portion will be the end of March. Mrs.
Scales would also like use to think about purchasing the AR web
books. The cost would be about $6,000 and then a yearly fee of about
$1000 - $2000.
Minutes:
The minutes were emailed and passed out by Carol Mesker. Deb Titzer
moved to accept the minutes as presented; Kathi Wilson seconded;
motion approved.
Treasurers report:
Dawn Bratton provided a financial statement (attached). Mary Miller
moved to approve the report; Deb Titzer seconded; motion approved.
VP of Funded programs-
Kathi Wilson did not have a report.
VP of School Activities-
Michele Brookman did not have a report.
VP of Special Events-
Deb Titzer did not have a report.
Committee Reports:
5th Grade Events- Bonnie has been working with the committee.
Plans are coming along. They will be having a t-shirt design contest.

Birthday Book Club- No report.
Book Fair- No report.
Community Donations- No report.
Community Service- Mitten tree was very successful. We were able
to share our items with Chandler and Sharon schools.
Directory- No report.
Family Carnival- Carnival is April 16. We still need chairpersons
for games and food. There will be a planning meeting January 14
at 9 AM.
Field Day- Inflatables and the van with music have been reserved.
They are looking at changing the times to give each grade a little
more time outside.
Fund Raising-Bonnie presented the piece of playground equipment
the PTO would like to purchase. The kindergarten teachers picked
Stanley the Stegosaurus. It is similar in design to the X wave but
it does not move. The Hey wagon and car are both older
pieces. The teachers would like to keep the wagon. The school corporation
will refurbish it. The car will be taken out to make room for the
new piece. The quote for the new piece is $5,519.00. Carol Mesker
made a motion to purchase the new piece as presented: Kathi Wilson
seconded. Motion passed. Shannon will be starting the new campaign
for the purchase of the document cameras.
Helping Hands- No report.
Hospitality- No report.
Landscape- Tara did some work in the courtyard and will have a
work day in the spring.
Library-No report.
Market Day-Pick up is this Thursday. Next month is cookie dough.
Jane and Julie would like to see sales improve and are looking at
ways to encourage people to buy cookie dough next month.
Popcorn- No report.
Publications-No report.
Special Rewards-Mary Miller announced the Box Top contest will
be the first two weeks of February. One class from each grade bringing
in the most box tops will win an extra recess. They will also have
a contest for those turning in a paper with box tops attached to
have a chance to win one of three Webkinz. They will be sending
home a flyer from Schnucks explaining ways to earn extra box tops.

Spirit Wear- No report.
Student Incentives/AR parties-We are in need of 3 more volunteers
for 2nd grade (8:30- 9:30) and 2 more volunteers for 3rd grade (9:40-
10:40) for Fridays AR party.
