Castle Elementary PTO Meeting October 6, 2009 Principal's report: Minutes: Treasurer's report: VP of Funded programs- VP of School Activities- VP of Special Events- Committee Reports: Birthday Book Club- Sandy Moore reported they have sent out the first three months of birthdays. They are going to be sending out monthly so kids can get their book in their birthday month. Book Fair- Tiffany Bonnell said a flyer will be sent home soon. Family Night will be October 27. We will be taking a combination of books and money. She will be scheduling volunteers soon. Community Donations- No report. Community Service- Tiffany Bonnell reported the pop tab collection for the Ronald McDonald house has started. Alcoa donated the green boxes for the grades to collect tabs and Berry Plastics donated the white tubs for the students to collect tabs at home. She will be doing a mitten tree again this winter. Stephanie Parker volunteered to help with this project. Directory- Bonnie reported we are about 1 month from being finished. As she previously stated we will be selling ads to defray the cost of printing. Contact Carol Mesker if interested. Family Carnival- We still need a chairperson. If you like to plan and organize events please see Bonnie. Field Day- No report. Fund Raising-Bonnie reported that we collected $4,254 for the Change Our Playground contest. We made $520 from the Roca Bar gives back night. October 21 will be Acapulco's night. There will be a flyer sent home. Helping Hands- Jen Metcalf still has 2 teachers who need a little extra help. A note will be going home in newsletter. Hospitality- Debra Buck reported that they are working with Tiffany Bonnell on the book fair family night. Landscape- Tara will be having a spring clean up day but for the fall she will be sending a note detailing the things that need to be done. Those who signed up to help can come work when they are able. Library-Melissa Edris will send a note out in the newsletter for helpers
still needed. Popcorn-Marci reported that popcorn will start in November. She asked about raising the price to 50 cents a bag. She has been using oil previously purchased but will not have to buy oil. We will on make about $17 if we keep it at 25 cents. Mrs. Scales said it would be okay to offer other selections instead of popcorn. Publications-No report. Special Rewards-Shawn Mundy reported that the fall box tops contest started Monday. The class that collects the most will receive a cotton candy party. They have a bulletin board in the main hallway that they are updating during the contest. Spirit Store-Kathryn Melton might be taking over. Bonnie is waiting to hear a final decision from her. Spirit Wear- Carol Mesker reported the t shirt sale profit was $995. They will be doing a fall/holiday sale in November. Student Incentives/AR parties-Ami Larrison reported the AR party will be October 23. The students will watch the movie The Wild. Will need volunteers Thursday to pop popcorn. Please see Ami to volunteer. Sunshine- No report. Web Site- Tonia Eissler will be updating this week.
