Our
History:
John
H. Castle Elementary School was founded in 1965. Our school colors
are blue and white and our mascot is the Pages. The school was
named after John H. Castle, a local farmer who sold the land our
school resides on to the Warrick County School Corporation.
Our
Building:
The
building consists of 33 regular classrooms, media center, computer
lab, full service kitchen/cafeteria and a large gymnasium. Additional
art, music, speech and reading areas compliment the layout of
the building by providing for the needs of all students. The facility
serves the educational needs of approximately 930 students in
grades K-6.
Landscaped
central courtyards provide quiet outdoor classroom areas. The
front of the building is highlighted by a canopy that provides
a dry and safe transportation access for all students.
In
the midst of the bustling classrooms at John H. Castle sits a
peaceful courtyard that serves as a relaxing spot for studying,
daydreaming or a lesson about our environment. Shrubs and plants
pepper the landscape and a stocked pond is home to many beautiful
goldfish. There is seating for students, and a number of classes
move outdoors to this natural classroom for study time when the
weather permits. The PTO
landscaping committee maintains the courtyard.
